Mike Polinsky (back, left) speaks Pittsburghese: "Hey yunz guys! This is
Mike Polinsky, aka Policus around here! (Kinda like a one-namer like
Pythagoras!) This year I am a senior at Mt. Lebanon High School and just
about ready for anything this year. I just spent the summer at Carnegie
Mellon University in a program called Andrew's Leap...pretty exciting
stuff about artificial intelligence and robots and great problem solving
activities. I plan to attend MIT, Cornell, or CMU next year. I am a
part of the Mt. Lebanon academic games team and am looking forward to a
good year and some wins at the national tournament in Georgia in the
spring. Recently I was part of a team of high school students from Mt.
Lebanon that won a regional Calc-U-Solve Contest! We came in first out
of 29 high schools and 140+ students! One last thing: GO MARIO!
GO STIHLERS! LET'S GO PENS! See yunz guys 'roun' an dat!"
Ben Brown (front) is going to be a famous pianist some day. His computer
programs in BASIC and C and now Pascal are like musical works. Another
academic games team member, Ben helped Mt. Lebanon win part of the talent
contest at academic games nationals in Georgia two years ago. Now a big
bad senior, Ben will be the expert on Linguishtik!!! Ben says he does not
like to play the card game known as MAGIC (yeah, right sure!). He loves
cheese and macaroni. Ben is pretty good at math...he placed in the AHSME
math contest the past two years. Ben plans to attend Cornell or Carnegie
Mellon University next year (but he has to finish his computer science
homeowrk first!) CONGRATULATIONS TO BEN! He was recently accepted to
Carnegie Mellon University!
Samantha Lee (back, middle) is a senior at Mt. Lebanon High School and
loves to play tennis, dance, and hike! You can find Sam (as we
affectionately call her) chatting on the Mt. Lebanon BBS regularly
(more like all the time!!...Sam is a great talker!) If you like coffee,
pop tarts and KIX (a cereal), you and Samantha have at least three things
in common. Sam can speak a little Spanish and Chinese (maybe we should
get hooked up with a team from Spain, Mexico, or China and let Sam show
her stuff!). Samantha will be getting a driver's license soon, so
everyone in the Pittsburgh area....BEWARE!!!!!!
Robb Williamson (back, right) is a "two-b" sort of guy. Figure that one
out if you can. Ask him. Robb is an avid downhill skiier and
computer guru.
